A 54-year-old Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, man has been convicted and sentenced for a drunk driving accident in February 2011. According to The Inquirer, the man now faces a five to ten-year prison sentence.

The Philadelphia car accident occurred at around 8:20 p.m. on February 26, 2011, on Broad Street. Court documents show that the intoxicated driver had a blood alcohol content of .20 percent, nearly three times the legal limit, when he cut a U-turn across four lanes of traffic and hit another vehicle. That car then spun out of control and struck a couple walking along the sidewalk, killing one and injuring the other.

The intoxicated driver who caused the crash was charged with homicide by motor vehicle as well as aggravated assault.

He was eventually found guilty and sentenced to three to six years for the homicide charge and another two to four years for aggravated assault. Also, the man was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and serve four-years of probation with drug and alcohol counseling upon his release. The judge ordered he pay the family of the deceased victim more than $5,000 in restitution for funeral expenses as well.
