The parents of the man who died in the Pennsylvania auto accident that also claimed the life of 34-year-old Jackass star Ryan Dunn are suing Dunn’s estate and the bar that served the two men on the evening of the crash for the wrongful death of their son. According to NBC 10 Philadelphia, the crash happened around 2:30 a.m. on June 20, 2011, near the exit ramp for Pottstown along Route 322.
Court documents show that Dunn was intoxicated when the two men left the local West Chester bar and got into Dunn’s Porsche sports car. They go on to allege that Dunn was driving at speeds in excess of 130 mph in the moments before he lost control of the car, then crashed over a guardrail and down an embankment, killing himself and his passenger.
The lawsuit blames the accident on the bar and its staff for over-serving the men that evening and is also seeking damages from the estate of Dunn for his part in the crash.
The owners and managers of the bar, Barnaby’s, have responded that Dunn did not appear to be intoxicated when he left the establishment that night.
The Pennsylvania personal injury lawyers with Lundy Law hope that the lawsuit will bring some closure to the family of the victim and ask motorists to never get behind the wheel of a vehicle after consuming alcohol.
