A 27-year-old Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, man was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident earlier this week. According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, the crash happened at around 3:00 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Front Street and Dewey Road in Cheltenham.
Reports indicate that the man, who is a Philadelphia police officer that was off-duty at the time of the crash, was riding his bike near the road crossing when a silver Buick Park Avenue that was driven by a 68-year-old woman struck his motorcycle. The impact of the Pennsylvania motorcycle accident threw the rider from the bike, leaving him with multiple injuries. The driver of the Buick fled the scene only to be tracked down and arrested by officers a short time later.
The injured victim was rushed to a local hospital, where doctors determined he had a broken femur and pelvis, along with severe head trauma. He remains in critical but stable condition.
Investigators say that they’ll continue to look into what may have caused the accident, including distraction and speed, as they do not believe that drugs or alcohol are to blame.
