Data from the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger shows that as much as 25 percent of Philadelphia’s population is at risk of hunger. Even more disturbing is the fact that a majority of the individuals who are at-risk for hunger are children. The Philadelphia Personal Injury Lawyers with Lundy Law point out this is why numerous organizations are joining the fight against the city’s hunger problem.
Lundy Law is doing its part to prevent hunger in the city by participating in a program called Blessings In A Backpack. The program offers school-aged children backpacks with enough food supplies to supplement students with meals for the 38 weekends throughout the school year. The packs include meals that are ready-to-eat or easily prepared, such as granola bars, juice boxes, and oatmeal, so parents can easily feed their kids, or kids can easily feed themselves if an adult isn’t around to help them.
Those who wish to get involved in the program can do so in several ways. Funds donated to the program are vital to keeping the organization’s shelves well stocked and its mission moving forward. Volunteers are also needed to pack and distribute backpacks to children. Events are held monthly where more information regarding involvement is available.
Lundy Law’s team of Philadelphia Injury Attorneys recognizes the importance of giving back to the community and are hopeful others will consider supporting the efforts being made by Blessings In A Backpack to prevent hunger in the great city of Philadelphia.
