A 74-year-old Harleysville, Pennsylvania, woman died after being involved in a Philadelphia Slip and Fall Accident last week. The Montgomeryville-Lansdale Patch says the incident occurred just before noon Saturday at North Wales Elementary School outside the suburb of Lansdale, Pennsylvania.
Reports say the victim was attending a fund raising event at the school called “Mommy Market” with her daughter. When the pair attempted to walk down a flight of stairs in the school’s gymnasium though, the elderly woman slipped and fell down the stairs.
The impact of the fall and hitting her head on the floor left the victim with a traumatic head injury. Paramedics soon arrived on the scene and rushed the woman to a hospital; however, she died early Sunday morning due to complications from her injuries.
Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that more than 15,800 individuals over the age of 65 years old die each year as the result of falls, making it one of the leading causes of accidental deaths among the elderly. Another 1.8 million elderly fall victims require medical assistance each year.
The Philadelphia Personal Injury Lawyers with Lundy Law acknowledge how difficult being injured or losing a loved to such an accident can be. That is why the firm would like to send their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the victim.
