Pharmaceutical giant Wyeth was found guilty of negligence in producing, marketing, and selling two hormone-replacement drugs, Prempro and Premarin, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal.
Wyeth was ordered to pay more than $43 million to each of the three women whose lawsuit claimed they developed breast cancer after using the dangerous drugs.
The jury will decide Friday whether or not Wyeth should pay punitive damages as well, as they could cause serious dangerous drug injuries in others. The pharmaceutical company is involved in about 5,300 similar lawsuits in state and federal courts across the nation with close to 7,800 women.
