A 32-year-old man is missing after a New Jersey Boat Accident that occurred earlier this week. Reports indicate the incident occurred on Tuesday morning near Great Egg Harbor.

According to an article from NBC10-Philadelphia, the man was the captain of a 45-foot Sea Tow boat, called the Cape Hatteras, which had left Absecon Inlet at around 7:45 a.m. that morning. Roughly three hours later though, the U.S. Coast Guard reported receiving signals from the ship’s Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB).

Attempts were made to contact the ship and captain; however, the Coast Guard received no response. Rescue crews were dispatched to the scene to preform a search, but the boat was nowhere to be found and no one was aboard a life raft that was found. Searches continued yesterday using a MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter and a 47-foot motorboat, but were called off early today after no signs of the man or the boat were found.

The incident has left many wondering what they can do to stay safe when on the water.
