Besides the countless other pitfalls of allowing your children to watch too much TV, a recent study has once again illuminated the fact that fast food companies are directly marketing their unhealthy products to your children.
Reuters (8/10, Norton) reports that when youngsters watch television, the majority of food advertisements are for fast foods, according to research published online Aug. 1 in the Archives of Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine. To help children avoid seeing such ads and to make sure they get enough physical activity and play, the American Academy of Pediatrics suggested that parents limit kids’ TV viewing and time on the computer to just two hours per day.
Remember, less TV plus less unhealthy food plus more exercise equals a healthier child. Parents, please do the right thing for your children by encouraging them to exercise while keeping them away from fast foods and excessive television.
