In a strange case of hit-and-run, a lone police officer from a small township in Pennsylvania has been accused of rear ending a vehicle and fleeing the scene. According to NBC-Philadelphia, the man who is the only chief, traffic officer, and detective in Kennett Township, has no recollection of the events.

Reports say the chief was patrolling Route 82 and McFarland Road in his squad car around noon on October 4, when he rear-ended a Jeep. The chief says he had no idea of what had happened until he got home and received a call of a hit-and-run where he had just been. He then went outside to realize he had damage to the front end of his patrol car. He returned to the scene and spoke with state troopers who had arrived to investigate.

The troopers found the chief was not intoxicated and appeared to suffer from an illness known as absentee seizures, a condition the chief says was brought on by a traumatic head injury years earlier. He admitted to taking medications for the injury.

While the chief faces no charges for the accident, he has been put on medical leave for the next six months, until doctors approve him as fit for duty.
