A Pennsylvania man was killed and another seriously injured as the result of a work-related accident that occurred yesterday morning. The Inquirer says the incident occurred around 11:00 a.m. at the Audobon Water Authority’s tower in Lower Providence Township, about 25 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

The victims were part of a three-man crew from Corrosion Control Corp. who were contracted by the Audobon Water Company to clean the empty tank. As the workers were cleaning, the scaffolding they were standing on collapsed, which led to the death of one man as he fell more than 50 feet to the bottom of the tank.

Luckily, a safety harness the other victim was wearing caught him as he fell; however, he still sustained injuries as a result of the accident. It took rescue crews nearly four hours to pull the man to safety, where he was then rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have been called to the scene to investigate the cause of the accident and if it could have been prevented. Their findings will be released in several months.
