A prominent Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, couple recently filed a Pennsylvania Medical Malpractice lawsuit in United States District Court against a luxury drug and alcohol rehabilitation center located in Palm Beach, Florida. A story from The Philly Post explained the lawsuit claims negligent acts committed by doctors and staff at the facility were the direct cause of pain, suffering, and injuries sustained by one of the plaintiffs.
Court documents show in April 2012, the couple paid the facility approximately $45,000 for the female victim to receive 30 days of in-patient care to treat an addiction to benzodiazepines and opioids she had developed following numerous surgeries. A few weeks into her stay though, the woman became erratic, developed elevated blood pressure, and claimed she was felt as though she was going to have a seizure. She was rushed to a hospital, where she did suffer from a seizure.
The lawsuit that was later filed on the victim’s behalf claims doctors at the facility were “negligent and careless” in taking the victim off of the medications she was addicted to so quickly. This allegedly led to a withdrawal, which resulted in the seizure and a host of other conditions.
The Pennsylvania Personal Injury Lawyers with Lundy Law recognize how damaging the results of medical malpractice can be and are hopeful a decision in the case will bring the couple a sense of closure to what they have endured.
