Millions of Americans purchase portable heaters to take the chill of on days like these. If you own one purchased from Wal Mart, please be aware of this important recall notice.
According to the AP (12/16), the US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of 2.2 million electric heaters sold at Wal-Mart stores. The heaters were sold from December 2001 to 2009. The heaters can malfunction resulting in overheating, smoking, burning, melting and fire, according to a joint statement from Wal-Mart and the CPSC.
Wal-Mart said it has received 21 reports of incidents, including ones of injuries caused by minor burns and smoke inhalation.The national retailer has instructed customers to cease “using the heaters and bring them to a Walmart store for a refund.
Reuters reports that the (12/16, Norton) that the recalled models include Airtech, Aloha Breeze, Comfort Essentials, and Flow Pro 1,500 watt heaters.
