A three-vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer and two passenger vehicles in New Castle, Delaware, Wednesday was responsible for sending one person to the hospital. According to reports from Action 6 News, the crash occurred just before 11:30 a.m. along I-295, a quarter mile east of Route 9.
Reports of the incident from officers who responded say that the driver of a Lincoln Continental made an unsafe lane change. This action caused the driver of a tractor-trailer to make evasive maneuvers to avoid an accident, but he was unsuccessful. The 18-wheeler struck the Lincoln as well as a black Toyota Highlander SUV.
The driver of the Toyota suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash and was taken to a local hospital where she was treated and released. Officers at the scene cited the driver of the Lincoln for making the unsafe lane change that caused the accident. The driver of the big rig was unharmed.
If you are involved in a crash involving a large commercial truck, it is important to remember that those vehicles operate under a completely different set of guidelines than an average passenger vehicle.
This is why the Delaware Truck Accident Lawyers with Lundy Law advise anyone involved in this type of accident to seek the medical care they need first and foremost. Then, they say it is vital that you contact an attorney before speaking with an insurance adjuster about the accident.
