A standoff that lasted several hours in North Philadelphia results in six police officers shot and the gunman surrendering.
Police attempting to serve a narcotics warrant entered a home in the Nicetown-Tioga area on August 14. As they moved further into the home a man began firing multiple rounds at the officers. Some police managed to escape through windows during the gunshots.
However, other officers were trapped inside the home with the gunman. The gunman barricaded himself in the house and continued to fire are police officers outside. After eight hours of standoff, six officers were shot. The gunman ultimately surrendered from advice from his attorney.
The suspect has been identified as Maurice Hill. No one was killed during the attack and all of the officers shot have been released from the hospital.
