September 6, 2019 – Philadelphia, PA
Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia officially closes today. For over 170 years, the hospital has served the Philadelphia community with medical care.
For years, the hospital had been experiencing financial problems and were unable to find solutions. For the past few months, the hospital has been shutting down departments and has essentially been quiet since the Emergency Department closing in August of this year.
The residency program at Hahnemann was recently sold to Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals. Thousands of employees will be left without jobs due to the hospital closing.
